Dolly Parton escaped the struggles that shaped her life at an early age by using her creative and imaginative imagination. Her songs were written before she was able to read or write. Once she had her first guitar at age of eight, she started to play at radio stations in Knoxville in Tennessee. Gold Band Records is a small, independent label. Although she became an established local celebrity while at High School, she knew her goals were greater. After graduating high school in 1964, she moved immediately to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were her first two charting albums from Monument Records. At about this time Porter Wagoner was looking for an actress to sing for his television show that was syndicated. Parton was offered the gig in 1967 signed to RCA Records in 1968 and became a member of in the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. The year 1974 was the first that she opted to walk away from Wagoner's band because the popularity of her solo albums like Joshua Coat, Many Colors, and Jolene had outstripped their collaborative efforts.
