Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She's written 15 books and is the cofounder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington has worked as an actor, journalist as well as a philanthropist, author and journalist for more than 10 years. She also is the owner of The Huffington Post, an independent, liberal online newsmagazine. Originally from Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England with her family at 16 years old. At Cambridge University she earned a MA qualification in Economics. As the first non-English speaking student, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. After graduation she made her mark as a conservative syndicated columnist as well as with the introduction of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed a voice-based website that provided critical views on the political scenario. Her celebrity status helped her by attracting a variety of high-profile contributors to publish their thoughts on politics news and culture. Arianna's celebrity status started in 2003, after she became an independent candidate in the California recall vote in order to replace Governor Davis. She was also involved in an initiative in Detroit that promoted fuel-efficient automobiles. Forbes declared her to be as one of the "most influential woman" in media with her ranking at the 12th spot. Guardian placed her on their list of 100 most important media figures in 2009. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in the year 2011. In 2012, she became the President of the media division at AOL. It included a number of AOL-owned brands, including Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Elli Stasinopoulos is the daughter born to Konstantinos a management advisor and journalist. They were very close to her father. However, it was the relationship she had with her mother that shaped her. When she was a teen, she showed leadership traits that she's still known for. At the age of 16, she travelled to England for a degree and attended Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college in which she became the third female to be elected the president. She graduated in 1972 with an honorary degree in Economics. After her graduation she worked as a columnist critic and as a host on television. She was a guest on Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began to write her own novels with his help.
